Glossary Glossary poultry (noun) domestic fowl, such as chickens, turkeys, ducks, and geese. the flesh of chickens and other domestic fowl as food. aquaculture (noun) the rearing of aquatic animals or the cultivation of aquatic plants for food. greenhouse (noun) a glass building in which plants are grown that need protection from cold weather. hydroponics (noun) the process of growing plants in sand, gravel, or liquid, with added nutrients but without soil. aquaponics (noun) a system of aquaculture in which the waste produced by farmed fish or other aquatic animals supplies nutrients for plants grown hydroponically, which in turn purify the water.
